A critical parameter to keeping the cost of ownership low on a Mercedes-Benz is to maintain it on a regular basis. Each Mercedes-Benz is equipped with a Flexible System (FSS), for most drivers, the FSS indicates an interval at approximately 10,000 miles. The following intervals are recommended by Mercedes-Benz:
- Schedule “A”: This is recommended at 3,000 to 5,000-mile intervals and includes an oil and filter change as well as a check of all exterior lamps and horn operation, fluid levels, cabin filters, air pressure in tires, belts, brakes, hoses, shocks, front and rear end for wear, throttle, flex disc, and windshield wipers.
- Schedule “B”: Performed at 30,000-mile intervals and includes all the items listed in “A” as well as a servicing of the automatic transmission, fuel filter, and power steering fluid and filter.
- Oil change, brake pad replacement, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, check engine light scan, automatic transmission fluid and air conditioning.
- Mercedes-Benz service list: Synthetic motor oil change and filter renew, cabin dust / combination filter replacement, air filter replacement, brake fluid change, fluid levels check and correction*, tire inflation check and correction**, front and rear brake pads inspection, reset maintenance counter.
